The Phoenix Garden

A group of us went out on a bright February sunday to volunteer for a day at The Phoenix Garden, right off of the Tottenham tube stop. We gained hands on experience, lessons in bricklaying, numerous pots of tea, and overall a wonderful interaction with green urban space and with those who take care of it. In a city it is extraordinarily difficult finding untouched green space – sometimes citizens have to go out in efforts to make one, or take part in maintaining and helping an existing place thrive. We were moved by the amount of work and knowledge going into this garden, and strongly urge others to take part in their own local sustainable community!
